Seriously, trying to remember the sunblock, the towels, the medicines, make sure everyone has enough clothes, not to mention we're doing family pictures while we're there so now I'm having to plan coordinating outfits for everyone...it's nuts. Have you ever tried to find boys' sandals in January? It's not easy. I've spent the last two days running around like a chicken with my head cut off (enough clichés yet?) trying to make sure we have it all and as much I'd like to say we're totally ready, we're not.
As I walked in the house tonight from yet another foray to Target Scotty and Conrad greeted me at the door. I felt like I had just been through a shopping battle (and that's saying a lot because I LOVE to shop) but as soon as I walked through the door my spirits were lifted because I was attacked by the kind of hugs and kisses you can only get from a toddler. Conrad's little arms wrapped around my neck and squeezed as tight as he could as he cooed, "Mommy, mommy, mommy!" It was the best.
As he and I sat down on the couch for a snuggle I realized exactly how tired I am (did I mention I'm fighting a cold right now too??) and thought, "Gah, I have got to slow down!" And I promise I am. Later.
But first I have to get in two more trips to the gym, two days of school for Nathan, return a few things that I thought we needed but we don't really, find shirts for Scotty and me to wear for pictures and make sure that I print out a copy of all of our flight and hotel information. And make a list of all of our confirmation numbers. And pack everyone's carry-on with snacks and entertainment.
Then I'll slow down. Promise. :)
